This fascinating 1904-1914 Henry Siegel "The 14th Street Store" cast iron Toy safe bank with key has an interesting story to tell.
Story: Mr. Henry Siegel was the President of the 14th Street Store opened in 1904 on Sixth Avenue between 13th and 14th streets in NY. He was known as the Napoleon of the Department Store Industry. This store was one of his biggest projects but unfortunately fell apart a decade after he put it up as he was charged with fraud charges for falsifying information to obtain further credit.
This toy bank could then be dated somewhere between the listed dates. The key works, handle is securely attached, is all in good condition except for the exterior rust shown on the bottom in the last photo. No other defects present.
The front plate states: The 14th Street Store, 6th ave busy corner, New York. The last line reads: Henry Siegel, Pres. Serial number on top is 50572.
