Description
The Terminal Railroad Historical Society of St. Louis produces a superb annual magazine with finely researched articles, usually centered around a main story, which are fully illustrated with color and b&w white images, ephemera, track plans, diagrams, menus, and fold-out tip-ins. Issue 45/46 (1998) presents Robert Tracy’s story about the TRRA’s 14th Street shops in St. Louis which were converted to service diesels while maintaining capability for steam locomotives. But the TRRA’s 14 St shops also serviced diesels from many of St. Louis’s other lines such as the Alton, B&O, CB&Q, CRI&P, GM&O, IC, L&N, MKT, NKP, NYC, PRR, Cotton Belt, C&EI, ATSF, SP, and PC although this trend was very limited with some lines due to those companies having only modest traffic. Other articles discuss railway post office service, “Notes From a TRRA Time Card,” and the last customer on the TRRA’s Central Belt line, the Missouri Brick Company.
